7. Overall FeedbackOverall - Mainly low responses accross the board:
According to your responses, you see yourself as needing development in a number of areas. Please consider seriously whether you currently have the capability, motivation and experience to cope with the intensity of Accelerate to Headship.
If Accelerate to Headship is not quite right for you, take a look at the other development programmes offered by the National College. A different style of learning, perhaps with a different outcome, may be more valuable at this point in time. We recommend that you discuss your options with your line manager.
Overall - Mainly high responses accross the board:
The pattern of your responses paints a very clear picture. You feel you have the capability, motivation and experience necessary to succeed on an intensive programme such as Accelerate to Headship.
Accelerate to Headship is designed to prepare participants for a place on the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) programme within 2 - 3 years, and a headship within 12 months of achieving NPQH. If you feel that this is the route for you, we would certainly welcome your application.
Your next step is to discuss the programme with your line manager and/or current Head, as they will need to endorse your application before it can be considered

Overall - Medium responses:
Your responses indicate that, while you feel you have the experience for Accelerate to Headship, you are less enthusiastic about working in a headship role. It may be that you are not quite ready to take on the demands of an intensive, stretching period of learning and development.
Take some time to reflect on whether this programme and the prospect of becoming a headteacher within 4 - 5 years would be the most rewarding thing for you in the long-term. You may also want to research the programme further in light of this feedback, and discuss it with your line manager or Head.

Overall - Medium responses:
Your overall responses indicate that, while you feel you have the energy and motivation to rise to the challenges of Accelerate to Headship, you do not currently feel you have the breadth and depth of experience recommended for this kind of programme.
As part of Accelerate to Headship, you will need to draw on leadership experience; so if you feel that yours is currently limited, the programme may take you a little out of your comfort zone. However, you may feel that your passion for leadership and ability to thrive under pressure will balance this out.
While we will welcome your application, you should take time to consider whether you currently have the knowledge, skills and abilities to get the most out of such an intensive development programme. If you decide to apply, your Head will need to endorse your application before it is considered, so we recommend discussing this further with them beforehand.

Questionnaire Background
This questionnaire focused on certain areas because they are all key to your success on the Accelerate to Headship programme.
If you already have leadership experience, you will find it easier to make practical sense of what you learn on the course. If you feel you have a low level of leadership experience, you might feel out of your depth or find that you are unable to relate to the programme's content.
If you are highly motivated by the challenges of being a school leader, you are much more likely to enjoy and flourish on this course. If not, it might be worth considering other options.
You will need to be a quick learner, as Accelerate to Headship is an intense learning development scheme. Section three questioned your ability to cope (and thrive) under pressure, as well as your level of interest in learning new things. If you got a low score in this area, you may find that the accelerated learning route is not for you.
Although work-based preferences may change over time, especially as you get new experience in different roles, it is important to be clear on the areas of work you fundamentally prefer and how that will impact your future career direction. This is especially valuable when you come to make tough choices between your current role, working with others and making decisions in shorter time frames, and longer-term school leadership activities.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this questionnaire. We hope it has helped you gain further insight and assess how suitable the Accelerate to Headship programme would be for you. |
